soundtracks

Gillian Welch   has been the soundtrack to my mornings ever since I discovered her about ten years ago. Against the ruckus of rowdy kids, or with a hot cup of coffee in rare silence of kids out with dad, I almost can't start my morning without her, and if I have, it's just not the same. It feels louder, faster, more in my throat, somehow she helps me swallow my angst, breathe deeply and start with a fresh clear spirit.

Does music do this for you? Is it a big part of your day? After we are past the morning, the track changes. Dance parties are almost daily, my kids LOVE this it's really not my preference, but if it's going to get us all up dancing, even dad, then in works. If dance parties are not something you do in your house, kids or no kids, may I then highly recommend them. Don't even close your blinds, let people know you're having a good time. I think it's a great challenge, to work on kicking our shy, self-conscious selves out the door, I know I have to work on it, and dance parties are a great first step...yes, pun intended.

  1. I try and put on CBC Radio 2 during the day - I feel a whole lot less crazy because it gives the illusion that another adult is in the room with me, plus I love classical music.
