for the love of
One of my absolute true love past times is thrifting, or, more precisely called by some, "treasure hunting".
What do I love about it...well, I almost never see someone I know, I always go alone, it's quiet, except for sometimes a little top 20 radio music, also, there is absolutely NO thinking involved, and I don't believe I've ever been able to leave empty handed. I still have a little bit of a need for senseless retail therapy, and for someone living on a budget, thrifting is the best way to go, and thankfully, I love it. I love the time it takes to go through the racks, you can't skim through them, because if you do, that's when you miss the gems like this bright (hard to tell in the photo) royal blue zip up hoodie that is the perfect size to fit one of my one year olds.
Another beauty about thrifting is finding true vintage pieces. How can you tell it's vintage? The tag actually reads "MADE IN CANADA". Words that are hard to find these days, and words that make me so proud to have them sewn into a garment for my own kidlet.
Thrifting is also a getaway for me. This evening, as soon as I was finished putting the babies to bed, dirty supper plates were still out, I snuck into the older two kids room, as my husband was putting them to bed, smooched them all, and said I needed to go out. My shoes slipped on, and out I went, dirty plates and all. After about an hour or so of quiet clothes rack roaming, my gem was found, and actually one for a friend as well. I then came home to a clean house, and a husband ready to watch a movie. It felt like magic. Thrift store magic.
What's your getaway? Do you need to be social, or do you seek out a quiet place?

I need some of both. Yesterday I got to spend the day with two of my friends, one from out of town, and it was so wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI need both too, it can be easy to live in a bubble with our kids, getting out and being social is a must for me sometimes too.
